The public sector

The PSP's vision is to maximise the investment and opportunities presented by MediaCityUK to ensure it meets its ambition to become a globally significant media city with visible, long-term benefits for people living and working in Salford, the north west and beyond. The PSP programme aims to achieve this through leading and co-ordinating partnerships with a range of public and private organisations and community groups.

The programme is based around three areas:

Place: Supporting the development of the MediaCityUK physical site and transport infrastructure. Examples include the new Metrolink tram stop; developing new bus routes to connect MediaCityUK with the wider city region; developing the area as a visitor destination; and providing operational support for MediaCityUK.

Sector and Economy: Using MediaCityUK as a catalyst to grow the digital and creative industries and developing relevant skills throughout the north west. Examples include projects such as the Games Centre of Excellence; workforce development including further education, higher education and apprenticeship schemes; inward investment and business support.

People and Communities: Using MediaCityUK to increase aspirations and opportunities for local people by promoting training and education programmes and developing access to jobs. Examples include presence at community events, extensive schools engagement projects, support for BBC staff moving north and community media activities.
