Approval for New £26m Waterfront Dining Development at The Lowry Outlet

Planning consent has been granted by Salford City Council for “The Watergardens” a new waterside dining concept that will see the transformation of the southern waterfront into a vibrant leisure destination offering a new restaurant terrace maximizing the best waterside views in Manchester.

The Watergardens will be a unique setting for a diverse range of restaurants including polished casual and contemporary dining and will also see the delivery of a new waterfront promenade connecting the iconic Millennium Bridge to The Lowry Outlet

Designed by Chapman Taylor, the development will incorporate biophilic design principles to blend natural features, such as planted landscaping and improved natural light, with the urban environment.

The scheme will see Lifestyle Outlets invest a further £26 million into The Lowry Outlet with additional improved public realm and mall refurbishment taking place, creating 150 new jobs.

Jason Pullen, Managing Director of Lifestyle Outlets, part of Peel L&P said, “The Watergardens will transform this area of waterfront bringing a vibrant dining offer enabling people to enjoy the best waterfront views in Greater Manchester. Our vision for The Lowry Outlet will see it become a unique leisure and retail destination attracting visitors from Greater Manchester and beyond”.

The first of the restaurants is due to open in 2020 with construction beginning later this year.
