Phoenix Digital means business with successful first year

Marketing specialists and tenants of The Greenhouse, Davinia Hamilton-Maddox and Chris Gibson, are onto a winning formula with their latest venture, smashing their first year financial target and boasting a string of high profile clients, including Argos.
The duo are the brains behind Phoenix Digital which launched at MediaCityUK a year ago with a forecast of £100K turnover, but have made over £150K thanks to their unique philosophy of ‘keep it lean and clients keen’.
With some 40 years’ joint marketing experience behind them working for big agencies including ConnectPoint, MKP, Gyro and McCann, Phoenix Digital blends Davinia’s brand know-how with Chris’s web development background.
“What we offer is senior expertise and a hands-on approach but with an agility you just don’t get from big agencies and that’s really hit home with brands. They know they won’t be ripped off or put in a queuing system to get a job done, and time is of the essence in digital marketing,” said Davinia.
Specialising in web development and user experience, the agency already has an impressive portfolio of clients including Argos, building a customer support website for the retail giant that was recently nominated for both a Big Chip and Prolific North award.
Ian Fenton, Returns Prevention Manager of Argos said: "Phoenix Digital has been a pivotal part of our roadmap with their digital capabilities. They always deliver on our visions and manage to turn ideas into reality within challenging timescales. They are a great company to work with."
Now Phoenix handles ongoing SEO and UX for Argos as well as working on a range of digital marketing campaigns for Joseph Holt Brewery, BBC Children in Need, The European Environmental Bureau, Skillsoft, Diane Harrison, London Craniofacial Unit and Russell & Russell Solicitors.
Davinia and Chris decided to launch Phoenix Digital a year ago after a meeting of minds when they first worked together four years ago.
“We knew there was a gap in the market for an agile digital agency with senior experience and set ourselves the target of £100K in our first year. To have smashed that, shows we were right and it’s a great feeling,” said Davinia.
“We’re now on course for an even bigger and better year and will be announcing two new projects imminently that are really going to shake up the city’s digital scene.”
Based in MediaCityUK, Davinia’s credentials in the business community have not gone unnoticed as she was also recently appointed to join the GMCC Salford Business Network to help the voice of small businesses be heard in government.
