  • Getting here

    Getting here

MediaCityUK is close to one of the most comprehensive transport infrastructures in the country, so getting here won’t be a problem. People travelling to MediaCityUK will be encouraged to use public transport wherever possible. A new waterside tram terminus will combine with the existing tram stop at Broadway to provide a service in both directions (Eccles and city centre bound) every six minutes. The two mile journey into central Manchester city centre takes around 15 minutes by tram, providing a seamless connection with the national rail network at Piccadilly station. Three trains an hour run from Piccadilly to London Euston, completing the journey in just over two hours.

We're installing around 300 cycle bays across the MediaCityUK site. Click here for information and advice on cycling in Greater Manchester, including online maps and guides.

For those who need to travel by car, a new link road with the M602 motorway will give drivers the option to approach MediaCityUK from either end of Broadway. The M602 provides onward linkages to major routes leading in all directions.

Manchester Airport, a 20-minute drive from MediaCityUK, offers a choice of more than 200 destinations worldwide. Additional overseas connections are available at nearby Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

  • Salford Quays

    Salford Quays

MediaCityUK’s Salford Quays location places it at the heart of Manchester’s iconic waterfront, historically a symbol of industrial enterprise.

Opened in 1894 by Queen Victoria, the former docks were fundamental to the economic prowess of the region. More than a century later, and in the midst of the digital revolution, MediaCityUK is helping The Quays to reinvent itself once again. Extensive regeneration and investment has made the area a magnet for tourists, with venues such as Imperial War Museum North and The Lowry arts centre helping to attract millions of visitors each year. Old Trafford, home to Manchester United Football Club, draws crowds of more than 70,000 to every home game; while The Quays’ waterways play host to regular triathlon events and were a key venue for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. In September 2011 the area will welcome Oasis Academy MediaCityUK - a brand new high school complex.

  • The north west

    The north west

Right on the doorstep of Manchester, one of Europe’s leading commercial, cultural and creative centres, MediaCityUK is at the heart of the north west of England.

We’re a serious economic player, home to nearly seven million people and 230,000 companies. Three quarters of the nation’s Top 100 companies operate here, earning us a reputation as a great place to do business (source: NWDA). Manchester itself is the fastest growing city outside London, and was recently named second only to the capital as the best place to locate a business (source: Cushman and Wakefield UK Cities Monitor).

But this isn’t only a good place to work, it’s also a great place to live. In fact, the Economist Intelligence Unit ranked Manchester as the UK’s most ‘liveable’ city, assessing qualities such as stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.

And it’s not just Manchester that makes the region so appealing; from the natural beauty of the Lake District to the legendary nightlife of Liverpool, we certainly don’t want for entertainment in this part of the world.
