Media City:UK has been developed by a partnership of Peel Holdings, Northwest Regional Development Agency, Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company, and Salford City Council.

Key advisor on the development of media cities worldwide is Michael Joroff of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who also advises on the development of Digital Media City Seoul, and Digital Mile in Zaragoza, Spain.

Media City:UK is part of a wider 20 year regeneration programme led by Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company on behalf of its partners Salford City Council, the Northwest Regional Development Agency and English Partnerships.

Media City:UK will be maintained and safeguarded long term by a public-private partnership of Peel Holdings and Salford City Council, with restrictions in place to ensure development as a media-related hub.

Media City:UK is supported by Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council.

Media City:UK has 200 acres of land and water available, all owned by Peel Holdings. The core site of 36 acres has outline planning permission.

Peel Holdings have a well-established track record of delivering successful ambitious, large-scale commercial and public developments. Peel Holdings develop and manage projects for the long-term. Activities range from property investment and development to owning and operating the Manchester Ship and Bridgewater Canals, three airports, including Liverpool John Lennon, major ports, including Mersey Docks, and The Trafford Centre. Peel has already played a vital role in the revitalization of Salford Quays and is committed to playing a key role in the long-term success of the area. Peel has grown from a company with assets of £500,000 in 1980 to over £4 billion today.
