On Friday 13th March, Sport Relief returns to MediaCityUK and is putting on a Festival of Sport on the Piazza. Come along and get involved in a range of fun activities during your lunchtime, throughout the day or after work!

FEATURING:

SPORT RELIEF PENALTY SHOOTOUT

Come and help Olympic Gold Medallist and Sport Relief hero Sam Quek take on one of the hardest challenges yet for Sport Relief – taking 2020 penalties in 12 hours – that’s a tough ask of around 2.8 penalties a minute! To make things harder she’ll be facing comedian and self-proclaimed ‘aspiring’ goalkeeper Lloyd Griffith in goal. Help Sam get to 2020 and take a shot against Lloyd or help Lloyd out and go in goal. They kick off live on BBC Breakfast at 08:30! And finish live on BBC One at approx. 22:00

BEAT BEETHOVEN

Dah-Dah-Dah-Duuuh– can you Beat Beethoven in a 5k race? Join Radio3 and the BBC Philharmonic as they play Beethoven’s 5th Symphony live across the piazza – and run against their music to see if you can finish before Beethoven stops. The race begins at 16:00 with a warm up by famous dancing brothers AJ & Curtis.

LONDON MARATHON TUMBLEATOR

Fancy your chances against the world’s fastest marathon runner? Have a go on the London Marathon’s Tumbleator® and see how long you can run at Eliud Kipchoge’s historic sub-two-hour marathon speed on this giant treadmill – that’s a pace of just under 4:35 a mile or about 2:50 per kilometre. This event runs throughout the day until 22:00.

BACK TO THE FUTURE & THE SPOTY TROPHY

“Great Scott!” it’s the Delorean. Travel in time for a moment in Marty McFly’s Back to the Future car or get your selfie with the Sports Personality of the Year Trophy. This event runs throughout the day until 22:00.

BLUE PETER

Blue Peter presenter Richie Driss will be taking a stint in goal to face Sam Quek in her penalty challenge, plus, ahead of their live show at 17:30pm on Friday 13th March, the team will also be filming with some of the cast of CBBC footy drama Jamie Johnson as they attempt to take on an inflatable challenge involving Mega Darts and Supersized Skittles.
