Expanded Emotion – VICE VERA

Tamsin Middleton

A captivating live performer, VICE VERA channels a primal energy from the stage, enthralling her audience from the first to the last. Looping powerful vocals and off-kilter guitars, she creates soundscapes that are confrontational, joyous and vulnerable in turn. Calling on influences from post-punk, alt-folk and spoken word, VICE VERA is a creative force to be reckoned with.

VICE VERA is the solo project of Manchester-based Tamsin Middleton. With over 15 years of experience as a writer and performer with multiple bands, her career highlights include touring in support of RHCP, Pixies, Sleaford Mods and The Fall; BBC 6 Marc Riley session; performing at Glastonbury; and last year receiving Arts Council Funding to develop her creative practice.

Currently working in collaboration with Jayne Sayer (Lecturer in Film and Production Design, University of Salford), Tamsin is exploring the use of Creative Tech to enhance the stage show for VICE VERA under the project title ‘Expanded Emotion’. Together they have developed a proto-type piece of stage-wear adorned with addressable LEDs, which responds to the live stage audio from Tamsin’s voice. Phase two will include the manipulation of film footage in response to the live guitar, to create a truly unique and immersive performance.

VICE VERA’s debut album ‘Bone by Bone’ will be released in 2026 on Pastiche Records.
