ITV has today announced that January 2026 was officially its biggest ever month for streaming, recording 383 million streams, surpassing the previous record set in June 2024 (375 million) after the Men’s Euros.
This impressive milestone was driven by particularly strong performances from soap, reality and drama, underscoring the success of ITVX as a destination for must-watch content, continuing its lead as the dominant commercial BVOD Service in the market, outperforming the ad-tiers of every other broadcaster and global streamer in January 2026.
Resurgence in Soap
ITV’s flagship continuing dramas saw significant uplifts in their streaming viewership, with streams up 48% year on year. Coronation Street and Emmerdale achieved their highest monthly streaming figures on record, following the epic Corriedale crossover episode, which launched the power-hour scheduling pattern, with streaming friendly 30 minute episodes of Coronation Street and Emmerdale airing nightly on weekdays, and released on ITVX at 7am.
Corriedale was also ITV’s biggest programme in January, with an audience of 5.9 million across consolidated TV and streaming.
Coronation Street and Emmerdale clocked up 65 million streams in January 2026, 10 million higher than the next nearest monthly total on record.
The biggest commercial title in 16-34 streaming
Love Island All Stars continues its dominance achieving 40 million streams in January 2026, making it comfortably the biggest title in streaming for 16-34s amongst commercial competitors (which includes Broadcaster VOD services and ad tiers of subscription streamers).
The series is ITV’s top single title in streaming, in 2026 to date.
Top performing drama slate
Drama was the top performing genre on ITVX in January, with Red Eye series 1 and series 2 leading the offering (over 25 million streams) as ITV’s top commissioned title, and The Hunting Wives leading the charts as the top acquired title, with nearly 7 million streams, one of the top performing monthly stream totals for an acquired title ever, on ITVX.
January Drama streams were the highest since January 2024 (when Mr Bates Vs The Post Office was released), a testament to the strength and scale of ITV’s offering across the month, which included new series of commissioned titles like After The Flood and Grantchester, acquired hits like 61st Street and Grosse Pointe Garden Society, as well as the enduring popularity of archive titles such as Midsomer Murders, Vera and Downton Abbey.
Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Managing Director of Media and Entertainment said “The combination of a brilliant drama offering, two of our biggest brands – Coronation Street and Emmerdale, alongside our most popular show for 16-34s, Love Island, have come together to deliver ITVX its biggest ever month. 2026 is packed full of exciting new content and it’s fantastic to kick start the year with this milestone.”
January also saw ITVX hit 10 billion streams since the platform launched in December 2022, as ITV has continually enhanced the viewer experience over this period, with 2025 updates including the refreshed ITVX homepage, the launch of Coming Soon trailers and simplified log in journeys, which have helped bring more viewers into the service, who have stayed longer.
