A SUMMER BY THE WATER: GRUB ON THE DOCKS RETURNS TO MEDIACITY

19/05/2026

Launching 28th May

Open Tuesday to Sunday weekly

GRUB, Manchester’s leading independent street food and events collective, is returning to MediaCity this summer with the next chapter of GRUB on the Docks. MediaCity’s waterfront site will once again be transformed into a vibrant, open-air destination for residents, workers and visitors, this time built for long evenings, warm weather and big moments across the season.

Running across the summer months, GRUB on the Docks will bring together a rotating line-up of independent street food operators, a curated drinks offering and a programme of events designed to make the most of the waterside setting. From the likes of Sizzling Seoul’s East Asian bowls, Dukes Po Boys big American flavours, Umami Cartel with their Japanese and Mexican fusion, Oppa Korean Dogs, Sazume Sake bar from the people behind Michelin guide The Sparrows and I love brioche for your chicken and waffle treats with many more special traders and chefs still to be announced. They’ll also be bringing their in-house nostalgic butty shop Caff, serving breakfast brunch and lunch. Expect bold global flavours, summer-ready drinks, live music and DJs, alongside a laid-back social atmosphere that moves from daytime hangouts into evening sessions. Kicking things off, there will be screenings of the World Cup live on the docks and that’s just the start. The events calendar spans open-air screenings with Cultplex Summer Blockbusters programmed by Manchester’s only classic film cinema, beer and wine festivals plus a New Faces Comedy all dayer, as well as family-friendly fun through Baby Mosh, Summer School kids’ classes and Meet The Neighbours resident events, wellness on the waterside with On The Green, and plenty more still to come across the season.

Across the run, the site will come alive with a changing weekly programme, giving visitors something new to discover each time they return. Food traders will rotate throughout the season, showcasing a mix of returning favourites and new operators, while the GRUB bar will serve a selection of craft beers, cocktails and easy summer serves.

A key part of this year’s programme will see GRUB on the Docks host a series of activations around the World Cup, bringing fans together to watch key fixtures on the big screen. Set against the backdrop of the water, the screenings will offer a more relaxed and social way to experience the tournament with food, drinks and atmosphere all in one place.

Jason Bailey, GRUB Director

“GRUB on the Docks is all about creating a space people want to spend time in. Summer by the water, great food, cold drinks and a proper atmosphere. MediaCity is a unique waterside location, and this is creating a pop-up for the summer months which reflects the energy of this creative campus. With the World Cup in the mix as well, it’s shaping up to be something really special.”

Joshua McAllister, Senior Events Manager at MediaCity said:

“GRUB on the Docks is back at MediaCity this summer, bringing seriously good indie street food, live entertainment and big-screen sport to the waterfront. It’s the ideal spot to catch up with friends, family or colleagues-whether you’re soaking up the sun by day or catching MediaCity’s epic sunsets. With a packed line-up and a laid-back, feel-good atmosphere, it’s all about great food, good vibes and making the most of summer by the water.”
