Hill and Roberts expands its financial business support for MediaCityUK community

Chartered Accountancy firm Hill and Roberts is celebrating a productive and exciting three years at MediaCityUK, assisting many of the creative businesses.

The North Wales-based Chartered Accountants, established 63 years ago, decided to open a fourth office in The Greenhouse at MediaCityUK back in 2012 and have never looked back.

Headed up by Glyn Jelley, the MediaCityUK branch represents over 70 of the 250 businesses located in the city and specialises in providing a wide variety of accountancy and advisory services for small to medium sized businesses to achieve greater profitability and wealth.

Glyn Jelley said: “Seeing the evolution over the last three years at MediaCityUK has been amazing.  In such a short space of time, the area has grown from being almost uninhabited, into a vibrant and fun place to work.  There seem to be changes and improvements on a daily basis and the dynamics appear to be constantly evolving.  We are proud to be part of this growth and moving into The Greenhouse at such an early stage has been an excellent move for the firm and has also benefitted many of the businesses in the area too”.

Hill and Roberts offer a full range of accountancy services including limited company accounts and corporation tax, sole traders, freelancers, bookkeeping, VAT and payroll.  Big changes in payroll with the introduction of auto enrolment have meant the firm’s payroll department has come into its own.  They are fully auto enrolment compliant and can take on all of your payroll requirements

Glyn continued: “We have assisted many businesses on their journey – all at different stages of their life cycle.  We can help with all aspects of business and understand that often they cannot afford all areas of professional assistance. With this in mind, we provide ‘bolt-ons’ which allow business owners to pick and choose the different services they require at points in time where they need them most.  This means that a business is only paying for services they really need”.

Business case study: Wink Nudge Limited

Wink Nudge is a digital development agency that design and build websites, online games and applications – for organisations of all shapes and sizes.  It was Wink Nudge that gave Hill and Roberts its very first introduction to MediaCityUK and their life here began as an office share with them.
Over the three years they have been here, they have gone from strength to strength, producing work for large companies such as the BBC.  They also develop products in house, such as a new visitor system which is used by The Greenhouse.  Hill and Roberts has provided a range of services to Wink Nudge assisting with their continued growth.

Hill and Roberts have been with us right from Wink Nudge’s inception, and offer great value for the level of service provided. The business has gone through periods of fast growth and it has been of great benefit having Hill and Roberts in our corner. They offer a personal and approachable service which goes beyond just doing our accounts.  They have helped us understand what it takes to grow and maintain a successful, sustainable business. Without them we wouldn’t have been so successful.”  Tim Makin –Wink Nudge Limited.

Business case study: Rule 5 Communications Limited

Rule 5 specialise in digital communications and PR.  They launch brands and products, develop communications strategies and solve issues using knowledge, insight, experience and technology.  Rule 5 provide PR and communication services for some of the most recognisable names such as Virgin Money, British Cycling, Nissan, Bostik and many more.  Due to the growth of the business, Hill and Roberts have provided a service tailored to their needs.  This has enabled Rule 5 to grow both rapidly and organically without the need for outside funding and is continuing its impressive ascendancy.

“Rule 5 started out with two full time employees in 2012 and we discovered Hill and Roberts down the corridor from our start up office. All we needed initially was help with payroll but that quickly changed and within months Glyn and his team was providing a range of services acting as our external finance department. The support and advice with which they have provided us has been essential in allowing us the room to focus on growing the business. Our relationship with Hill and Roberts has grown with the business, from a two-man team to now, in our fourth year of trading, an established and growing PR company with a team of eight.” – Rob Brown – Rule 5

Glyn and his team can also help with advice about tax self-assessment (deadline 31st Jan 2016) If you require any further information, call in at Pod 82, or email the team at mediacity@hillandroberts.co.uk or visit their website www.hillandroberts.co.uk
