Garth Williams
Safety Catch Ltd is a start-up creating connection and community through collaborative storytelling. Founded by creative director Garth Williams, the company draws on over 22 years of experience across theatre, film, outdoor arts, creative technology, and video game development.
Garth’s journey from actor to creative technologist centres on making astonishing work with audiences at its heart. With a First Class BA in Acting, he’s produced and performed in numerous original shows, outdoor installations, and created 50+ films and promos as a certified video editor. He spent a decade developing a research practice that led to The Ward Round project, and currently serves as co-chair of the National Association of Street Artists UK.
Recently, Garth has focused on immersive technologies and virtual production. An Arts Council England DYCP recipient, he trained in interactive A/V software with Troika Tronix mentorship, joined the GameTech 365 Cohort 2024-5, the GMCA Create Growth Programme 2025, and the Rising Stars programme 2024-5. His work explores how creative technologies can create magic, enhance storytelling, and deepen human connection beyond mere spectacle.
At the Creative Mixer, Garth will be showcasing a project which won “Best Creative Innovation” at MITIH and CDI 2025 – a dramatic reconstruction of a year spent as a psychiatric inpatient across four hospitalizations. Based on Garth’s true story beginning at age 17 in Withington, Manchester in 1994, The Ward Round project includes a video game, live show, “In The Round” (training for frontline staff), and “Full Circle” (community workshops).
