Isabella So – Participant

Isabella is a Korean-Chinese theatre maker and socially engaged artist whose practice explores identity, memory and belonging through performance, food and storytelling. Her work is rooted in community collaboration, often working with migrant and intergenerational groups to co-create participatory experiences that centre their voices and lived histories.

Her recent project, Dishing Out Memories, an Arts Council England–funded immersive performance developed in collaboration with The Lowry, Touchstones Rochdale and New Earth Theatre, brought together live cooking, projection mapping and multilingual

storytelling. The work was praised by audiences as “a great springboard to a fuller, developed experience for ESEA communities around the North.”

The project included both performances and workshops, allowing participants to explore the role of food in shaping memory, identity and belonging.

Isabella has been awarded £5000 to develop a new piece of work which will be showcased at the BEYOND Fringe Creative Mixer.
