MEDIACITY ACHIEVES UK’S FIRST MODESCORE AWARD
ModeScore, a new sustainable transport accreditation from the team behind ActiveScore, has awarded its first UK certification to MediaCity

The UK’s leading media, tech and digital hub in Salford has been awarded a Gold ModeScore rating, scoring high in the assessment’s Public Transport and Active Travel sections, thanks to its public transport frequency and facilities, including exceptional bike parking.
The award comes on the back of a strong track record in sustainability—the mixed-use waterside community comprises the highest cluster of third-party verified net zero carbon in operation buildings in the UK and the first shopping centre in the UK to be verified net zero carbon in operation as defined by the UK Green Building Council.
ModeScore certification covers Public Transport, Private Vehicles, Active Travel and Site-wide Mobility (deliveries). The transparent assessments empower and provide property owners with comprehensive insights and actionable recommendations to integrate eco-friendly mobility solutions, reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and create vibrant and greener communities for the future.
James Nash, co-founder of ModeScore and ActiveScore, said: “MediaCity’s recognition as the UK’s first ModeScore-certified project is a big moment. It’s a leap forward in integrating sustainable mobility within real estate, setting a benchmark for future developments. This achievement exemplifies the change we’re advocating for—environmentally conscious urbanism.” he continued: “Achieving the first UK ModeScore certification isn’t just a win for MediaCity; it’s a milestone in the journey towards sustainable urban living. It shows what we can do when we aim for innovation and care for our planet.”
Stephen Wild, MediaCity Managing Director added: “It is brilliant to see MediaCity secure the accolade as the first development in the country to achieve a Gold ModeScore. This is not only testament to the sustainability and connectivity of our commercial buildings and our fantastic spaces but equally to the commitment and vision from the team at MediaCity, placing best practice in terms of sustainability, connectivity and green credentials at the forefront of everything they do.”
