MediaCityUK growth ambitions boosted by new loan deal
Plans for the expansion of MediaCityUK over the next decade have received a major boost with the announcement of a new five-year banking facility.
Developer Glenbrook, working in partnership with Peel L&P has submitted a planning application to Salford City Council for a 280 apartment development in the heart of MediaCityUK.
Designed by architects, Sheppard Robson, the project is being delivered on behalf of Latimer, Clarion Housing Group’s development arm.
Ranging in height from 14 to 17 storeys, the scheme is located on the surface car park immediately adjacent to Booths food store. The £70m build for sale development will provide a mix of one, two and three-bed apartments with residents facilities, a gym and retail.
Speaking about the planning submission, Ian Sherry, director at Glenbrook, commented: “This is the third scheme Glenbrook has delivered with Peel L&P and the first of more developments we plan to deliver with the team at Latimer. The scheme’s location on one of the best sites in the internationally recognised MediaCityUK development will undoubtedly be very popular with future residents. Subject to planning approval, we will commence construction in early summer 2020.”
Richard Cook, Clarion Group Director of Development, said: “We are extremely pleased to be playing a big part in the continuing success story of Salford and this deal further underlines our commitment to the area.
“Being part of the country’s largest affordable housing provider means Latimer has both the capacity and skills to deliver new homes at scale across the region. We are already on course to build a total of 552 new homes in Salford, but we are ambitious to do much more.”
Latimer aims to help tackle the housing crisis by building high quality and desirable homes, with the profits reinvested back into Clarion Housing Group and used to build more affordable homes, invest in existing social housing and support communities.
MediaCityUK is a joint venture partnership between Peel L&P and Legal and General Capital.
