BBC Digital Cities returns to Manchester for a week of digital events aimed at the city’s creative digital industries.
Running 12-18th November, Digital Cities offers a programme of events for industry professionals from across the TV, digital and related creative industries to help develop their digital skills, showcase the breadth of opportunities and grow their digital networks across the city. The week will offer a variety of stimulating (mostly FREE) events on the future of digital technology, hands-on workshops and training, plus an opportunity to network and build a more digitally diverse workforce.
Digital Cities is run in partnership with a variety of stakeholders including the BBC Academy, The Sharp Project, The Landing, The Lowry, MMU, Salford University and Manimation. Throughout the week they’ll be offering a packed programme of events includes FREE digital skills training, coding skills for kids, a football and digital animation symposium, an opportunity to learn from digital pioneers , UX and makers spaces tour, a digital art show, an interactive and immersive tour of the Sharp project and the Manimation conference event amongst many more.
In the middle of the week BBC Academy, Midas, MMU and Salford University will be coming together at the city’s premier shopping destination, Harvey Nichols, to explore Manchester’s digital fashion revolution. A discussion will be hosted by North West Tonight’s Eno Eruotor, with a panel including Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley, designer to the stars Nadine Merabi and Mark Leach, Ecommerce director at leading digital fashion brand Missguided.
