GAS Music Wins Two Major Awards at 2025 Prolific North Creative Awards
Soil becomes sound—and So Solid Crew gets a second life—in two standout projects
GAS Music is proud to announce that it has won two top honours at the Prolific North Creative Awards 2025, held last night in Manchester.
Best Sound Design — Soil Samples
Commissioned by Bowel Research UK, Soil Samples is a ground-breaking sonic art project that turns the hidden resonance of living soil into music. Using contact microphones to record microbial activity in organic farmland, GAS Music captured the raw sounds of the earth and transformed them into playable instruments—laying the foundation for an experimental EP. Collaborators included Jamiroquai drummer Derrick McKenzie and Berlin techno pioneer Mark Reeder, whose remixes brought organic material to the dancefloor. The project debuted at the Chelsea Flower Show and has since evolved into a limited-edition vinyl and immersive installation, helping reframe gut health as something we can hear, feel—and even plant.
Best Collaboration — Luton Airport Express: “32 Minutes to Go” (with Leith)
For this bold, high-energy campaign, GAS Music reimagined So Solid Crew’s iconic 21 Seconds track to match the exact journey time of the Luton Airport Express train—32 Minutes. Working alongside creative agency Leith, GAS handled vocal production, recording, arrangement, and mix, reworking a UK garage anthem into a playful, attention-grabbing rail spot. The collaboration struck a perfect balance between nostalgia and novelty, bringing together fast turnaround, smart creative, and audio execution at speed.
Greg Owens, Creative Director at GAS Music, said:
“We’re proud that both of these projects were recognised. One is grounded in biology and public health, the other in UK music history and clever ad craft. What they share is a belief in the power of sound to communicate, surprise and stick. Huge credit to our clients and collaborators who trusted us to push the brief.”
These wins reflect GAS Music’s core mission: to bring intelligence, originality and emotion to every sound—whether for broadcast, brand, or beyond.
