14/02/2025
A new weekly podcast which delves behind the scenes in Salford’s MediaCity by featuring its talent, cutting edge creatives and innovators who are putting it on the world map has launched today.
Hosted by journalist and producer Stephen Chapman of 39 Pictures ‘This is MediaCity’ is produced on behalf of MediaCity by a team of recent graduates from The University of Salford from their new base in MediaCity’s recently launched Content Studio.
The first episode ‘Time to shout now’ features TV producer and former head of BBC North Peter Salmon who reflects on the seismic shift of 3,000 BBC employees from London to Salford over a decade ago, and how he’s back to help shape the next exciting phase of MediaCity.
Stephen Chapman, Founder and Creative Director of 39 Pictures said: “’This is MediaCity’ promises to be an exciting, inspirational and lively podcast which will showcase MediaCity’s finest from rising stars to famous faces as well as creatives and innovators who are breaking boundaries on a daily basis.”
Caroline Aikman, Director of Marketing and Place added: “This is the first time MediaCity has launched its own podcast and it’s great we can now share the stories and achievements of our community in a way we’ve never done before. We’re delighted the University of Salford graduates are using their skills and talent to produce it – giving them valuable hands-on experience which will springboard their careers at MediaCity.”
