The independent coffee and snack bar, based in The Open Centre at the front of dock10 studios in MediaCityUK, has created a special menu for the month of June. The special edition sandwiches include sweet and savoury options, and a cut of the proceeds from the sale of these items will go to The Booth Centre, a Manchester charity that helps homeless people or those at risk of homelessness.
Foodinate is a revolutionary start-up, founded by Manchester entrepreneur, Caroline Stevenson. Caroline said: “Foodinate is a really simple way to give back while you buy your lunch or snack. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Penelope’s Deli to offer the people of MediaCityUK an easy and effective way to support people in need in the local community.”
Carla Taylor, owner of Penelope’s Deli and other MediaCityUK venues, Penelope’s Kitchen and Love Conquers All, said: “Homelessness is an issue close to our heart and when I met Caroline last month, it seemed the perfect fit for Penelope’s Deli to get involved with. For just £4.50, the lovely people of MediaCityUK not only get a delicious, nutritious lunch, but they are covering the cost of a hot meal for someone less fortunate. That’s a wonderful thing.”
Penelope’s Deli is one of the first Manchester eateries to partner with Foodinate. To find out how your food and drink outlet can get involved, or places backing the scheme, visit: http://foodinate.co.uk/
