Super soap ‘Corriedale’ makes history as excitement builds at MediaCity

With one of the nation’s most watched soap operas filmed here at MediaCity, it was an exciting moment to catch a teaser of the forthcoming ‘super soap’ crossover between Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

Set to be aired on 5 January on ITV and ITVX it’s the first time Corrie’s famous cobbles have joined forces with Emmerdale for an action-packed hour of drama.

The special programme will kick-off the new year ‘power hour’ which will see Coronation Street and Emmerdale screen a 30 minute episode every weekday.

ITV executive producer for continuing drama Iain Macleod, himself a former producer at Coronation Street said: “It’s beyond exciting that filming is under way on Corriedale.

“There is a massive buzz around both the Leeds and Manchester sites and the images coming out of the shoot are utterly spectacular.

“It will be mind-blowing, historical and unmissable.”
