WHAT’S ON AT MEDIACITY THIS JUNE

● Salford’s biggest free festival returns to MediaCity on the 15th and 16th of June with over 200+ activities and performances - highlights include Northern Music Awards’ Best DJ, DJ Paulette, Sacha Lord, Melanin Markets, Mr Motivator, Bluey, CBeebies Bedtime Stories and British Cycling ● Visitors can also expect free family events, mini discos, quiz nights, cultural experiences and live music performances as well as a range of craft workshops and yoga classes

There’s always something happening across MediaCity and The Quays, and June is no different. The waterside destination in Salford has today announced its summer events calendar just in time for the warmer weather, with a range of activities, workshops and cultural experiences for everyone.

Kicking off the summer season, football fans can get ready for the EUROs at the Hot House Summer Social on Thursday 6th June, celebrating all things Euro with the quiz of the summer hosted by the legendary Miss Blair.

Over at Central Bay, Kargo.MKT has a range of workshops on offer including wine glass painting, dried flower workshops and a free Father’s Day arts and crafts session, as well as mini discos and weekly yoga classes.

Families can also take a deep dive into traditional Chinese culture at the Chinese Dragon Boat Race on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of June and watch their favourite sports teams, including Manchester United, Manchester City and the Salford Red Devils take to the water for an amateur dragon boat race. There will also be a variety of traditional lion and dragon dances taking place across the weekend, plus craft activities, Chinese food and more!

What’s more, the unmissable free two-day festival We Invented the Weekend is back with a bang this month with over 200+ activities on offer across Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June. From water sports on the canal, live music and dance performances, to getting your hands dirty with planting workshops and finding gems at vintage markets, festivalgoers can meet new people, try new things and make memories together.

Plus, tickets are now on sale for the award-winning five-star hit show Life of Pi, which returns to the Lowry Theatre on the 2nd July for one week only.

CULTURE AND MUSIC

FREE Hot House Summer Social – Thursday 6th June, 5pm-6pm

Hot House, The Piazza, MediaCity

Ahead of this summer’s EUROs, to celebrate all things Euro – sport, music, food and cities, the legendary Miss Blair will be hosting THE quiz of the summer season, while throwing in a few numbers between rounds to really get the party started.

With a quiz created by the legendary master Dave Gymer – of the Weakest Link and Question of Sport fame, it promises to be a belter with prizes up for grabs! Plus, ticketholders will get a free drink and Bratwurst on arrival.

Chinese Dragon Boat Race – Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June, Dock 9

MediaCity and The Quays

This two-day festival returns to MediaCity with amateur team dragon boat racing, which will see the renowned Manchester football derby teams of Manchester City and Manchester United, as well as the Salford Rugby Red Devils, will take to the water.

Visitors can also expect a variety of cultural activities, including lion and dragon dances, Kung fu demonstrations, Chinese painting and calligraphy, bracelet braiding and more – plus traditional Dragon Boat Festival foods, such as zongzi and other delectable treats, will be available for tasting.

We Invented the Weekend Festival – Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June

MediaCity and Quayside

This unmissable FREE two-day festival returns to MediaCity and Salford Quays for an action-packed two-day extravaganza, with over 200+ free activities, performances and workshops on offer over the weekend.

Festival goers can enjoy delicious eats and incredible beats at Central Bay, with DJs and live music by Sounds from the Other City, Mix Stress and Living Room Dance Club – come together for unforgettable memories and fun.

ARTS AND CRAFTS

Dried Flower Box DIY Workshop – Thursday 6th June, 6.30-8.30pm

Kargo.MKT, Central Bay

As Manchester Flower Festival comes to an end for another year, Kargo,MKT is offering an opportunity to get crafty with flowers! This workshop will allow ticketholders to create their own unique flower box frame to take home made from dried flowers, perfect for a room decoration or a personalised gift idea.

Pinot & Paintbrushes: Wine Glass Painting– Thursday 13th June, 7pm-8.30pm

Craft lovers can unleash their inner artist and create their own unique wine glass masterpiece. No experience necessary – there will be an instructor who will guide everyone through the process step by step.

Candle Making with Perfumery Exploration – Thursday 20th June, 6.30-8.30pm

Visitors can craft their own soy candle and discover 30 different pure essential oils to mix into your candle to create your own unique scent.

WELLNESS 

Yoga with The Wellness Hub x We Road – Every Saturday, 9am

Kargo.MKT, Central Bay

Experience a rejuvenating Saturday morning with The Wellness Hub and your local community at Kargo MKT. This peaceful venue is filled with natural light, providing a tranquil environment for a 45-minute yoga session, coffee, and friendly conversations.

The perfect set up for a peaceful Saturday morning: easing the tension in your body after a busy week and enjoying a hot cup of coffee while connecting with others who share similar interests. All of this is included in the price.
