Job Title: Social Media Manager

Department: Marketing

Location: MediaCity

Purpose of the Role

To lead the delivery of the social media strategy for MediaCity and Quayside by creating, implementing, and delivering creative, vibrant, and leading-edge digital content campaigns to support MediaCity’s Placemaking and marketing strategies. This includes having an editorial view across all digital platforms – social media, website and digital screens.

Essential Skills/ Experience/ Qualifications required

Ideally, the candidate will be a graduate or possess an equivalent professional qualification with at least two years’ experience in a similar role.

Desired Skills/ Experience preferred

Self-starter with strong inter-personal and organisational skills who enjoys working as part of a team.

Strong content creator with excellent creative flair and attention to detail. Experience of videography and photography skills to be demonstrated.

Experience in using content management systems including WordPress and Canva is essential as well as data analytic reporting. Video editing skills and knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro or other video editing software is desirable.

The candidate will also need to be a competent writer who can produce accurate and engaging copy for a variety of platforms.

Ideally, the candidate will be a graduate or possess an equivalent professional qualification with at least two years’ experience in a similar role.

Knowledge of using social scheduling apps such as Hubspot or Sprout Social.

The desired candidate will be a people person, with the ability to form strong relationships quickly, making people feel at ease when interviewing or shooting/filming content.

The individual must be prepared for unsociable hours outside of the 9-5pm with some weekend and late nights required to cover events.

Duties of the role:

Social Media

Manage the day-to-day activities of all MediaCity’s social media platforms including ARRIVE and Quayside [Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube] promoting the vibrancy of the MediaCity, delivering key messages, supporting stakeholder, community and ‘customer’ messages and building our following through messages which deliver against MediaCity’s brand proposition.
Develop and implement a social media strategy for MediaCity, Quayside and ARRIVE (MediaCity’s managed office provider)
Lead on devising and delivering social media strategies to support the growth of MediaCity as a destination to work in, study and visit.
Create social media strategies and campaigns which are timely, appropriate and adopt partnership approaches wherever and as much as possible.
Create and manage the Place Team’s Communications Content Calendar
Create, curate, and manage content and assets on social media, including images, videos, and copy.
Build brand identity and community engagement for all MediaCity social media platforms and accounts.
Keep the social media accounts varied and engaging for our followers, whilst delivering our key communications messages in interesting and creative ways.
Cover events on-site, including real-time social updates from the event including photos and videos and support with pre-event exposure and amplification.
Work alongside the Senior Marketing Manager and Marketing Manager to deliver paid social media advertising against KPIs.
Promote the vibrancy of the estate with regular updates of what’s on, supporting retailers, tenants and external clients and stakeholders.
Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy and put forward suggestions to uses these tools/platforms if appropriate.
Management of agencies and liaising with freelancers and ad-hoc freelance roles.
Manage social media listening tools to monitor brand sentiment and identify emerging negative issues/crisis management
Monitor and manage all customer comments, queries and feedback via social channels

Website management

Act as editor for the MediaCity website – regularly updating content and keeping the site engaging and up to date
Work alongside the digital agency and marketing team on future developments to the website.
Manage the community update distribution list, ensuring that requests to be added/removed are resolved and in keeping with GDPR guidelines.
Support in the delivery of the MediaCity and Quayside eDM strategy
Have access to the ‘MediaCity info’ email account and respond to community update queries and updates if needed.

Content Creation

Produce engaging and cutting edge social content with the core aim of delivering against key strategic KPIs
Working with the Senior PR and content manager to support external production teams to produce film content and campaigns
Manage MediaCity’s photography library


Deputise for the Senior PR and Content Manager where necessary.
Attend the monthly MediaCity comms network meetings.
Take up opportunities for further training and development within the company.
Write and report on analytics and campaigns for board meetings and staff updates.
